Photo credits go to Justin Olson. Thought I would share. Most were taken around Milwaukee. Truck one was taken in Memphis, TN

Very high quality for vintage photos! I did not know that they were mass-produced like that, or that Milwaukee County has BN-52G's

The Washington DC area had a few of these before they were phased out.

Yeah I've wondered that as well. I do know that these in the Milwaukee photos were all made about the same time as mine (1952/3)

A few keys that could identify ours are

A: No rotator frame skirting.
B: Solid sheet metal paneling on rotator belt covers (not expanded sheet metal)
C: No provision for collector rings
D: bigger "fat" lower belt cover
E: righthand mount of Battery

Also interesting note is the stenciled MOBIL DIRECTO SIREX on these early Milwaukee units

Thank you for sharing these! These are probably the highest quality MD photos that have ever been posted to this board! Very neat to see all of those gas powered units lined up ready to ship.

Hi,

I appreciate you sharing these. Most likely, these are the best MD images that have ever been uploaded to this forum! It's amazing to see all of those gas-powered machines arranged in a shipping line. Also work on outdoor furniture.

I never noticed this til now but, the Mobil Directo in the third picture has a wire mesh so you can see the rotating mechanism.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't a part of the siren itself but it was just something I noticed.

Yeah, I've noted that too. Seems like there were a few variations of the rotator covers. I'm sure there were more!

Large Screened
Large Solid
Small Solid

Mine are the large Solid variety.

Seems to be that there were also different revisions to the engine weather shrouds, the ones that are removed during operation. Others appear to be full shrouds with MOBIL DIRECTO SIREX painted on. The one also shows an unpainted one as well. The ones in the factory lineup almost appear to say BIERSC & NIEDERMR SIREX, but it could be a trick of the eye

It might be a trick of the eye. I zoomed in on the picture of the Mobil Directo (aka the one that has MOBIL DIRECTO SIREX on it), and the X looked like an N. Very nice photos though!
