Buford Dam water release siren

Mon Jan 09, 2023 4:26 pm

Not my video, but an interesting looking horn setup. There are 4 sites along the river with sirens, and while this one resembles a DSA, the other ones just resemble big square horns

If I remember correctly, the square horn sirens are Altec Lansing Mantaray speakers. I think they started replacing individual horns with DSA-2 when they stopped working
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.

I think you are spot on. I wonder if the DSA's are louder? Not sure what the output is on the Altecs.

There's an information post of some sort somewhere on the forum. These days it's pretty hard to find an active Altec; I think the only other installations that count as active are the backup arrays at Redstone Arsenal.

Image is not mine. This was from the old GA state map, I forgot who made it. It also shows a DSA. Located at Trout Place Rd. At the Trout Hatchery.
Edit: I’m starting to question why I quoted someone when I posted this. Didn’t need to but I felt like it for some reason.
