My son (5) is obsessed with sirens and was gifted his first! Any idea what it is?

Since he was 3 years old and pointed out his first 5t my son has become the air raid siren savant. We drive around sometimes looking for firehouses to identify new sirens.

While browsing a very expensive antiquities shop he somehow discovered this at the very back of the store. It didn't work but the owner was so happy to see my son excited over it that he gave it to us! Actually... He was required to "pay" one piece of gum from the candy store.

I was pretty surprised when he didn't know the model honestly so we don't know what it is. Currently we have it disassembled in the shop getting it cleaned up. Any idea what I can tell him this is?

Congrats on his first siren! It appears to be a hand cranked Secomak. The experts here can chime in on the exact model!

To copy my reply on Reddit, for posterity:
Looks like maybe a Secomak 447, but missing the plate used as a coding damper. The originals were in production since 1953, but there are clones out there now.

The damper disk is present, he just has it held open.

I bet that's loud for a hand siren, too.

We spooled it up with a drill so far. There's a little post broken off that engages the gears. Gotta get that welded back on and we'll get to see what she can really do!

I'm so excited to introduce my neighbors to their new annoyance!

Thanks guys! I appreciate it!
