I've heard of a few other places doing that also so people know to move their cars from the snow routes. I believe Evanston, IL or Skokie, IL is one of them

Here when a Snow Emergency is issued the news stations will usually have a crawl on the bottom of the screen...but then again i don't know how many snow emergency routes Dearborn has, here its mainly the primary roads and a few secondary ones. I could understand sounding the sirens if like every road was a Snow Emergency Route.

Damn, if both the notes were sounding at once, you would have an electronic Hurricane there.

I remember us getting a piece of that storm on New Years! It sucks that Dearborn is not close enough to Windsor!

Not quite.

Both hi-lo tones at once is how Whelen does the Air Horn sound. 8)

Actually, it's an extremely fast pulsed tone (at least, thats how it is on vehicle sirens, though I suppose, it could also be an extremely fast hi-lo tone) :P

I have an old Whelen 3016 tone generator/amp setup and the air horn signal is just a really fast hi-lo.
