How to remove a siren

I don't think my other post went through, but I'm planning on removing a FEDELCODE near me and I don't know how to do it without a crane.

If you guys have an idea as to how, please say because this will be my first big siren.

What is it located on? If it's on a roof, you might be able to rent a scissor lift and shimmy the Fedelcode onto a dolly and wheel it onto the scissor lift. If it's on a pole, I don't know how you can get it off without a crane.

EDIT: It also may be easier to take the housing off first, and then bring the Fedelcode's down. That way it will be easier to carry and will take off some weight! (It may not be much, but it should make it easier)

What model of Fedelcode and how's it mounted? If it's a Model 2, chances are you could rent a scissor lift or boom lift and take it down with that. If it's anything bigger than that, you're not going to be able to safely bring it down without a crane.

If its on a roof, you have a shot at putting it on a dolly.

If it's on a pole, its a crane.

Without a crane? If it's a larger Fedelcode (think Model 3/5/7), forget it. You're not going to be able to take it down without a crane given how heavy they are.

Not to mention if it's on a pole, however if it's something small like a Model 2 and it's on a rooftop or a platform, it shouldn't be too difficult, you could get away with a cherry picker.

Don't take my advice for granted though.

Here it is: It's a Model 5 on the side of the building...

I'm broke which is why I'm asking for ways without a crane, if any...

I think that if the pole that it's on is as tall as the tower on that side it's next to you can probably rent a scissor lift to get up on top of the tower, take the housing off and then unbolt the Fedelcode core from the tower. It still might work even if the tower is not as tall as the tower, but you would have to carefully tip the siren onto a dolly and carry it onto the scissor lift along with the housing. It sounds crazy, but it might work!

I'm not trying to scare you off, but good luck getting anyone there to budge on it. I tried getting the thing about 15 years ago. I know the former head of security there (super nice guy) and was able to track down someone that was in charge of that building. They basically told me to fluff off and if I asked again they would get police involved and report me for trespassing despite knowing the head of security.

For what it's worth, you'd need a crane and access to airport property since it's on the airport side of the fence. Unless you have somehow managed to contact someone relatively reasonable there, I can't imagine it being an easy task.

That airport would be under federal jurisdiction, if it still has air traffic. If that is the case, the feds would have to get involved.....lots of luck with that. If there is no air traffic, then its anybody's bet....irregardless, its going to cost you some disposable income that apparently you don't have.
