Here's something I and a few others have been working on for a while now. This map plots all known locations of Civil Defense Sirens in Chicago and the surrounding communities.

This is great! One correction. The sanitary building is 3838 s Racine. It is actually located west of Racine Avenue at the end of Bubbly Creek. It’s a storm pumping station.

That building wasn't around until the 1970's so the Chrysler and the thunderbolt that replaced it had to have been on another building. That location has been giving me trouble ever since I started this map last year. I'll do some more looking though, thanks for the tip!

I work for the sanitary district. I’m in that building a lot. It was built in 1939. It was expanded in the 60s. But the old part that had the sirens is from 1939. It’s a cool old building, but no trace of the sirens, unfortunately.
