Most Thunderbolts are rusty also. Neglect is the most likely reason for rust. Sirens for the most part are forgotten till the next tornado warning. As for the green color I guess the town must have problem with CD yellow. A few years ago I saw a community paint a siren blue to match the building time that was built infront of it LOL.

hmmm isint that just a regular tbolt blower cover? just on the ground and not attacked to the pole?

It's a custom made box that encloses the blower and control boxes.

This thread is beyond ancient, but I thought I would dig it up since I heard on the radio today that this siren is being replaced very soon. There used to be tons of Thunderbolts around here and this is one of the last ones left.

I have dug through the city's Website so others do not have to. I have found the following on the subject from the January 17th City Council Meeting.

"Motion to approve quote from Braniff Communications, Inc., in the amount of $21,352.00 for
new weather siren at Wenzel Road and Rte. 251"

My guess is it will be a 2001-130 with a transformer rectifier and DCFCTBH cabinet.
