Interesting. I wonder if Deerfield Township's 2001-SRN will be part of the upgrade. It's the one at Cottel Park that is up the street from me. If so, I may even try to acquire it. I know it was put in around 1998 before the Blue Ash Tornado of 1999. Federal Field upgraded the controls and battery box a couple of years ago.

I didn't know that Mason was planning to replace all sirens. I wonder if Federal Field is installing the new ones? They pushed the 2001-130 over the 508 many times, although the 508 covers more.

Federal Field does not install them, WSS of Allendale, MI does. Federal Field only does service calls when stuff breaks.

As far as I’m aware, Federal Signal does not provide parts support for the 2001-SRN any longer due to its belt driven rotation assembly.
Might be a good idea to at least get some on film before they’re gone.

Since Mason has 4 2001 DC's and 1 2001 SRNB, I wonder which one is getting replaced? I know that the one next to the old elementary school has rusty control boxes, so that one may be one of the first. The rest of them are in pretty good shape despite being over 20 years old.

Federal Field has worked on them before, along with the one up the street from me. I didn't know that West Shore came this far south.

Sorta an odd test in Hamilton County today... the T-128 at Clough and 8 Mile didn't seem to go off and it also sounded like a couple sirens only went for ~20 seconds. I left my tripod at school so didn't go out and record, but with all the wind I doubt it would've turned out alright.

Clermont County tested alright today, I was at the 1000 at Stillmeadow Country Club. The winds were insanely strong which made every siren to the west of us extremely audible. Although it completely drowned out the fedelcode that's not even 500ft from it.

I heard Mason's sirens loud and clear. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to the Massie Township 1003 as I was at work.
I could hear the T128's as well since I am on the line between Warren and Hamilton County.

Yesterday I heard the ambience of a couple of Boone County's 2001s testing, and just like me and Cincinnati last July, it seems Boone's sirens tested for a shorter amount of time (30 seconds?). Mrboojay mentioned that Boone is unpredictable with their tests, and I wonder if this is another case of Boone County not being able to make up their minds about test times. However it *is* 2022 now, so they might have changed their test times with it (although I doubt that).

Yeah, Boone tested, not quite sure when it happened, but they seem to only test for a minute now instead of the 5 minutes they used to. I visited the 3rd gen -SRN at the conservency park for the test. But I've seen this with every siren I've gone to in the county recently, which is kind of a bummer, makes the sirens here a bit less fun to go to, especially when they are the same thing.

I’ve just discovered something very interesting! I was looking at some Clinton County GIS imagery of Blanchester from 2004 and discovered that Blanchester must have acquired Wilmington’s former Thunderbolts! I found them on Highland Avenue behind the fire department next to an active Sentry 10v. They can be seen sitting on the ground next to the two Thunderbeam’s(which also came from Wilmington) which were later put into service in town. It makes me wonder if Blanchester has them in storage or if they sold them off, since as far as I know they were never installed.

I went out to 42 and Larosa's to get an audio recording of Mason Ohio's new 2001-130. It sounded good, but had some pitch issues. The public works guy was there too to make sure it activated. I wonder where the other one will be?

It seems that a lot of hamilton failed, all i heard today from my house was a distant 2001, probably from fairfield or fairfield township
