There was a Hurricane in NW Milwaukee behind an old night club called ATTIC WEST. This was the mid 1980's. It was northeast of the intersection of HWY100 (180) and Hampton Ave.
The Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant in NE WI. also had a system of the round horn Hurricane sirens in the late 70's thru the 80's. My family just happened to be driving by one in the summer of 1984 when it was going off for a test. I saw a poor guy walking below the siren covering his ears. We drove...
I agree about the dual toned sirens. There are dual toned model 3's and since the 2001 appears to use a model 3 chopper it would not be much of a stretch to make it happen. I also like asc 8 port sirens. The cool thing on test day is to drive over between Coon Rapids roundback 2001 and Andover's T12...
Thanks for the info!! I also remember that blue allertor in Bloomington!! Where I live in Coon Rapids there used to be a thunderbolt by CRHS. and there was an allertor on Coon Rapids Blvd. by the Rose Garden Restaurant.
Both replaced by 2001's
Al lertor, that is really cool!! could you load those tapes? I remember seeing one soundmaster 125 off HWY 55 in Plymouth. Weirdest looking siren-wish I could have heard it go off!! Long gone now.. Same with the SQAURE HORNED HURRICANS!!
I remember seeing that Allertor back in 1996!! I remember how ridiculously low it was to the sidewalk in front of the building! My 1st thought was "Crap, I'd hate to be walking by when 'THAT" went off!!" LOL!!
