Re: What siren can be heard the furthest away?

It also depends on the atmospheric conditions...night time the air is denser due to higher humidity and sound travels farther than during the day when the air is less denser. A good example would be take any siren you like, sounding either day or night...in Seattle, Washington the sound would travel...

Re: How to remove a siren

That airport would be under federal jurisdiction, if it still has air traffic. If that is the case, the feds would have to get involved.....lots of luck with that. If there is no air traffic, then its anybody's bet....irregardless, its going to cost you some disposable income that apparently you don...

Re: Oldest Thunderbolt sirens in existence

...No apologies needed... I can recall my late Father ,at one time, telling about the warning system at Forbes. He was stationed there in the late 50's - early 60's. He spoke of the sirens, but didn't elaborate on what he remembered them looking like. This conversation took place many years ago, pre...

'70's movie & T.V siren mystery solved (for me at least)

For the longest time , I have been trying to figure out who made the vehicle siren that was used pretty much exclusively in movies and television in the 1970's. The sound was a very distinct wail and yelp combined together. The Federal Signal PA 300 Interceptor, which I own, has both wail and yelp b...
