I know, but low pitch sirens are better than high pitch sirens because in schools and other places where you can't be outside for a long period of time you have to be able to hear a siren from inside also so someone closer to the source of where the siren sound is coming from can warn the principle...

We are siren enthusiast. We enjoy sirens. Siren company's don't build sirens to impress us. They build sirens to warn the public. The 2001's are a cost effective siren. They may be "dull", but they are VERY effective. 2001s are very effective when you can hear at least 3 from your house. ...

The only siren in my town is the lovely 2001 SRN, except for the Thunderbolt 1000 that isn't even part of the county system. Also, the 2001 did end up giving us the 508.

So a few nights ago, Logan (Tbolthurricane on Youtube) contacted me stating that through some research, he found a website that showed documents of the old Chicago Civil Defense siren system from 1958! As you could expect I was speechless! The documents even showed the locations and models of Chica...

I'm not sure what it was replaced with, but 2001's are very reliable sirens. The Hurricane had lots of issues, and servicing it was practically non-existing. Yes, the Hurricane may be a cool siren, but it just simply unreliable. I know that. But they look boring and dull. At least the Whelen sirens...

I am making a map on every thunderbolt in Michigan. New locations would be appreciated, as well as maps for systems with lots of thunderbolts such as Detroit, Flint, and Lansing.

Model 5/7 in Marcellus, MI (Sorry that the pic is sideways, I took it on my phone.) Thunderbolt 1000 or 1000T in Marshall, MI (Also fron my phone.)

It doesn't look in good condition, but it is the only siren in Springport, so no one really knows.
