Re: Yamaha Music Sirens

I've been away from this forum for a long time, but coming back to see a topic regarding the musical sirens was worth the quick stop by. I remember watching a video several years ago of one of the musical sirens, and I had simply assumed it was a one-off machine in some Japanese town. No idea that t...

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

The Thunderbolt 1000T behind the OSU bus garage was removed this month, I believe a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if it's still sitting behind it or if it's been sold for scrap already. The 1000T on 11th Ave near the University is still there.

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

I caught a bit of ambiance from my room. I did hear the long 3 minute alert at one point, thinking that every warning from there on out was going to be that long, but the theory above makes sense.

Re: Soundmaster 115 Single Tone Browntown, WI

It's hard to tell by the satellite view, but there is a siren on that pole and might still be the 115. Unfortunately there isn't a date on THAT image, so I'll get back to you on it looking at other satellites. Another Street View courtesy of Bing Maps indicates that on May 27th, 2015 the siren was s...

Re: Are there any more Thunderbolts in Franklin County Ohio?

I had no idea about the 1000 in Newark still sounding. I passed it several times over the last few years and didn't think that it was simply a failed rotor motor.

Re: Are there any more Thunderbolts in Franklin County Ohio?

The West Jefferson Thunderbolt was there as of late March/early April 2020 when I passed by it. I'll check again this weekend.

Update: I ended up going out for a warm evening drive and drove through West Jefferson. The 1003 is still there.

Re: Are there any more Thunderbolts in Franklin County Ohio?

As some already know, I got the last standing one from the west side of Columbus, but I remember reading somewhere about one still standing downtown near the arena district or something. I don't know... :/ This is a really late response, but I can confirm after living in Columbus for the last few m...

Re: Are there any more Thunderbolts in Franklin County Ohio?

As far as I know, the 1000 in downtown Newark, Ohio might still be operational. If it is, that may be the closest working Thunderbolt to Franklin County. I believe that's still active as I've passed it a few times this summer and would occasionally see it in a different position. Is it still there ...

Re: Does Ohio have any Allertors?

Allertors are somewhat common in Northeast Ohio, with one being on State Route 62 in Beloit. Whether it still works, I'm not sure. There was a short time where they took the siren off the pole and on a drive a few months later, it was back up. https://www.google.com/maps/@40.9015236,-80.998514,3a,75...
