Re: Tillamook, Oregon dam sirens?? (and others)

@Unit of Civil Defense Makes sense. It all sounds interesting, maybe when I go to Kansas (whenever that will be) I'll check them out. Over here, the only dam I know that has sirens is the Holser Dam, outside of Ashland, Oregon (southern oregon). That system is modulators, which are sprawled across A...

Re: Tillamook, Oregon dam sirens?? (and others)

I'm not as knowledgeable as most on here about siren types, but I'll try and answer your question as best as I can. It's been years, but I recall seeing what looked like a Model 5 at Lake Perry's spillway. The reservoir system here in Kansas was developed thru out the 60's into the early 70's. The ...

Re: Tillamook, Oregon dam sirens?? (and others)

I cant help you with the dam sirens in Oregon, but... Here in Kansas we have sirens located along the spill way of the reservoirs. A few minutes before the water is released/gate(s) opened, a siren or sirens are activated to warn fishermen or who ever else is present to seek higher ground. A couple...

Tillamook, Oregon dam sirens?? (and others)

Hello once again, I recently came upon a topic related to sirens in the Tillamook, Oregon area. There was a comment on that regarding dam sirens in the area. Sure enough, I did research and there are (?) dam sirens there. The thing is, I can't seem to find them anywhere. If anybody has any idea as t...

Re: Siren photos from the Oregon and northern California coast (large photos!)

I apparently like bringing back old threads...so my apologies. Many of you might not know this, but I found out that the STH-10 in Florence was used as their old fire siren, back when they had a volunteer fire department. I believe the siren was only used for VFD. What I am trying to find out is wha...

Re: A little fantasy map of my own...

Thanks to all of you guys for the positive feedback! If you guys would want to know about future siren maps, I'll do some based in the Portland metro area, going as far south as Salem and as far east as Hood River...But the next map...the next map will be Beaverton/Aloha, Oregon. Huge area to cover,...

A little fantasy map of my own...

**NEW AND UPDATED MAP** Over the past week or so, while on calls with a friend, we've been playing a game of fantasy siren locations. Our first town was Hillsboro, Oregon. So after going back and forth over siren types and locations, I finally "got off the couch" and made a map of where th...
