Re: The weirdest sirens ever seen.

This M was removed from display, then put back up about 12 years later, only without the motor and the rotors..... I think that the ex-display Model M looks the most cursed, it reminds me of what I thought sirens looked like before properly getting into them… I can very much relate. I wonder what h...

Re: The weirdest sirens ever seen.

Here's some weird Sterling stuff for you guys. This M used to be mounted atop a water tank. I've only seen this done twice, to memory. This is the one I own https://maps.app.goo.gl/YWgUqcz3mVDQV5T56 Model 2V8 on a gazebo https://maps.app.goo.gl/j2nGWiE7TUePL76b8 Model M with the sounders mounted at ...

Map of Sterling Sirens (past and present)

This is my map, which is intended to document every known location of Sterling Sirens and related products, including both past and present. I will mark anything that is a Sterling Siren, including removed sirens, as long as there is an exact location available. Please let me know if there is a loca...

What it's at now is as high as it will get. These usually run slightly slower than normal, probably due to the type of bearings they use, though I'm not entirely sure.

Re: The weirdest sirens ever seen.

I've been working on a map of every known Sterling Siren to have existed for the past 5 or so months, and I have come across many weird things during that time. This, however, is the crown jewel of all oddities and atrocities... Meet Biscoe, North Carolina's ROTATING Model M. https://maps.app.goo.g...

8/16 port, too, my favorite. Really nice work on the restoration!
Interesting how the grease cups come out front like that, instead of up top.
I appreciate it mate!

Sterling M48 Test Run

Here's one of the first runs of my 74 year old Sterling Mod. M siren. The pitch was a bit sluggish because of a sub-par brush angle and the bearings not being fully lubricated.

Re: My Sterling Model M48

M48? Huh that's interesting. Does the ID plate name it as an M48? Indeed it does. An M48 is a Model M made in the year 1948. They usually would stamp the siren as just "M", though for a short time, they would stamp them as "M", followed by the last 2 digits of the manufacturing ...
