Re: Are the ACA Hurricane sirens still in Greenville Texas?

The second Greenville unit was purchased by SWS and is now back in its place of manufacture. SE Wisconsin. This unit is in very poor shape due to sitting in a field for many years. Tons of mud dauber nest and corrosion were found inside. Both the blower, blower motor, and rotator assembly were seize...

Re: About the Milwaukee post a week ago

The Hurricanes definitely going to stay up for a pretty long time. One thing i wonder is if someone will buy the Hurricane and refurbish it do... :?: Not too sure about that one. If ASC or SWS are keeping it alive and how its radio was changed to be apart of Milwaukee's new system, it definitely is...

Re: Towns weird use of sirens.

I've never lived in a town that uses one for a curfew siren, but I've found it fairly odd to use one for such especially for a late curfew like 10pm. Another odd/interesting use was that at one time the Wisconsin Central yards Roundhouse in North Fond du Lac used their STH-10 as a alarm to alert any...

Re: About the Milwaukee post a week ago

It should be repairable, but we also know a lot less about Hurricane blowers than we do T-bolts. ACA/ASC may have used something funky and custom that's not unobtanium. I have my doubts, though. IIRC, the Hurricane used an M-D Pneumatics 4012 series blower. This is correct. Full rebuild kits can st...

Re: Question about the bee-striped Thunderbolts

I'm not sure when the "bumble bolt" scheme was discontinued, but I'm sure it was a quickly evident cost saving measure that was adopted early on. Lots more paint prep/masking needs to be done versus just spraying the whole thing one color.

Re: What is the best way to contact WSS?

They are old school. Pick up the phone and call them. Ask for Mike Leavitt. You are more than welcome to stop by, you just need to call and talk to him so they know when you will be stopping by

Re: Updates on the Cosgrave sirens?

I have made direct contact with Talia. We know the exact location of it. It is currently in limbo as far as a restoration goes. Me and another veteran member on this forum are the first contacts if the Cosgrave would need to be passed on. With respect to their privacy, I will not be revealing any ot...

The STH-10 by the pizza place was the only one replaced because it no longer worked. I'm pretty sure they only bought a rectifier and Eclipse siren head and that everything else from the old STH-10 was re-used.
This is what it appeared to be the case. Went by it this morning
