Re: The Soldier Field DSA

I don't think that's why. There is a mod right in the line of sight at Wrigley field along with one right in the middle of grant park. It looks like maybe they just wanted it going in specific directions. I only know of 3 dsa units in the city and all of them point a couple directions but not all 4.

Re: The Soldier Field DSA

Wow that's pretty cool. That lattice tower was pretty old. The new mast is a better install, they are pretty popular. The dsa looks like the same one, I can't imagine it being a new one. Never understood why they did this though. Would have been better off with a modulator.

Re: Chicago Air Raid Siren System DOCUMENTS FOUND!

Even without the O'Hare area, there were still large swaths of the city that were uncovered or undercovered. I wonder if any of the model 7s or stl 10s were replaced with tbolts later? I am also interested in when the system was deactivated. New system officially went online in 1998. Old system I be...

Re: Chicago Air Raid Siren System DOCUMENTS FOUND!

One thing I find interesting about this is the amount of sirens. There were major coverage issues with the old system. However, the city was still basically the same footprint then as it is now, with the exception of some areas near O'Hare, which were not built up until the 60's.

Re: Chicago Air Raid Siren System DOCUMENTS FOUND!

Very cool. I know there was a Chrysler on a sewage pumping station on 38th and racine. I work there from time to time and sadly there is no sign of it. But I still enjoy running the big 2000 horsepower pumps from 1939!

Re: Any records of sirens sounded/turned on besides testing in the late 1960s??

Probably no records. It could have been a malfunction. That happened in Chicago with the old system. You get a short in a telephone line and some sirens go off.

Re: Federal Signal sued

This is not over outdoor warning sirens, it is over fire truck sirens. Been going on for at least 10 years.

Re: Alertronic Siren Loactions

Also in Waukesha the T-128 at Fox River Sanctuary did not have an allertronic nearby. The nearest allertronic was at Fox River Parkway and School Ave, next to a light pole. The rule of thumb in Waukesha is if it is on a metal pole, it is generally a new installation. Wooden pole, it replaced an alle...

Re: North Baltimore OH siren issue

If they add a new siren they either have to put it out for bid and select the most competitive bid. Or they would have to waive bidding and go with Federal since they have Federal gear. I would say they would be better off adding an additional siren. You can never have to much coverage. Either a 200...
