Re: Yamaha Music Sirens

That's the only guess I have. I would have thought the same about their 24-note Gen. 2, but it seems another of those existed. Do we know the note numbers for ALL the Gen. 2s? And by the way, how do we know they only sold twelve of them?

Re: Yamaha Music Sirens

Here's why I say 14 notes for the 1st gen Yamaha building unit. The siren assemblies are in pairs, each pair being served by a single "box" (two electro-magnetic devices under a single cover). Hence the ten-note sirens being split 6/4 rather than an even 5/5. The '4 end' is on the left, th...

Re: Yamaha Music Sirens

Years ago, there was a post about these here, with four photos of the Yamaha factory units and one video. It was said that these were on the Marumitsu store, nothing was known about the difference in the seeming two different units pictured, and it was said "the sound of Sendai" was gone f...

Re: Sirens in Las Vegas/Nevada

When I was last in Las Vegas in 2014, while trying to turn around, I pulled into the UNLV campus. Spotted a Thunderbolt. I couldn't see a blower, the pipe ran down behind some HVAC equipment, but it's atop a low building that's attached to the northwest corner of the Harry Reid Center. Google Maps l...

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Thunderbolts

Are you mixing up TelcoJoe and me, Jonas Clark? :D It does happen.

I haven't seen any in Yakima, have spent very little time there, but the jailbar one there is still in use? Must be the only Thunderbolt in Washington that runs(?)

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Thunderbolts

Okay, in Kelso, I've only seen those visible easily from the freeway, but I've seen two from the freeway. One of them is siren no. 3 on the map, on Burcham St. But there is, or was, another Thunderbolt a little ways north of there, also on the east side of I-5, its pole mounted less than 15 feet fro...

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Thunderbolts

Daniel, when I head south on I-5 towards Portland, there's an (I think abandoned or disused) nuclear site off to the west, the cooling towers visible over the trees past the river. On the left side, in two places-- once right along the freeway, and again just before a small town, up a hill in a litt...

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Thunderbolts

The one on the WAC is also a bit unknown. It was indeed on a lower tier, as per photos of its installation. I had believed it to be on the south or southwest side/corner, which might be visible from the East. I can't see it in satellite photos due to shadows from neighboring buildings, but that does...

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Thunderbolts

Awesome! This gives me new hope, and your information is a gigantic help! I'll ask a buddy if he'll go with me and we'll go looking for trails and take a little hike. Wouldn't it be exciting to find it standing, deep in the middle of the woods? We'll start by driving Cheasty Blvd. S. along the top o...

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Thunderbolts

TelcoJoe, could you ask your friend about the one on Beacon Hill? I hunted for it, and I'm determined to locate it-- you and your friend just might be the break I needed. The Seattle archive photo on the VictorySiren site shows a Chrysler on a four-legged metal tower like those at Northacres and Phi...
