87502 Bearing Orientation in Thunderbolt Chopper

Hey everyone!! It’s been a LONG time since I’ve posted on here. I’ve been out of the siren hobby for about 8-9 years now after I sold ALL of my previous siren collection. A week and a half ago I purchased and picked up the former West Lafayette, IN City Hall Thunderbolt siren from another member her...

I wonder if that's the original RCM then. I seem to remember the last two digits of the serial on the siren motor being "79" which should mean that it's a 1979 model year.

Re: STH-10A Arrival

Nice job so far! It's cool to see another black-coned STH. I painted mine 'Grabber Green' with gloss black cones. Someday I'm going to re-do the green portion and spray it a more "normal" color, but it was cool at the time.

Wow, Andy! It sounds awesome!! Way better than when I was running it off of that gas engine, lol.

Re: My New Toy

It's hard to imagine the size of an Allertor until you actually see one on the ground in person. I remember the first time I saw mine...I was blown away at the size of it. I tried to get it into my house but the lower intake portion would NOT fit through my doorway!!

Whelen Vortex Test 1/1/14 (Minneapolis). Superb ambiance!

I recorded this on Wednesday the 1st, for the first Wednesday of the month @ 1pm siren test. This was taken on my doorstep, with the nearest Vortex being a block away and the second one being about a half-mile away (or so). I did not record the alert cycle, but did record the attack cycle. Enjoy! ht...

Whelen Vortex FIRST TEST! Minneapolis, MN 12/4/2013

Minneapolis, MN has been getting all new sirens. They chose Whelen Vortexes, installed by Frontline Plus out of Monticello, MN. All sirens in Minneapolis have either already been replaced, or are going to be replaced soon (2001s and Thunderbolts mainly). They have been working on the project since l...

Re: 3T22A restoration progress

I probably won't get to painting until next week because I have to decorate a parade float for my weather station business for Friday night. My town of Madelia is having their annual "Parade of Lights". What better float decoration for a weather station business than a tornado siren?! I'd...
