Jefferson County, AL Siren Replacements

I spoke with the Jeffco EMA director on Friday... the 1953 Thunderbolt 1000 on Birmingham City Hall is being replaced in a few weeks. If I had to guess it will be replaced with a 2001-130. The Thunderbeam behind the Hoover Rec Center has also been replaced with a 2001-130. Pictures of both replaced ...

Re: Question : Jasper Alabama

The thunderbolt is a 1003 that used to be mounted on the courthouse. It must have been replaced recently. As far as the model two's I've never seen any in Jasper, but Oakman to the south has one.

That's cool! Glad to see some 508's in Alabama.. I read an article about TVA replacing their units a while back and I was hoping they would go with 508's.
I actually took that picture of the Sth-10 a long time ago! You should try to get a recording of the new sirens sometime!!

Off topic: but When the tornado came through Tuscaloosa last year the sirens went off in attack at least 8 times. The last time in alert right as it went through our subdivision. So YES they did go off, i've wondered why no youtube videos have surfaced with the sirens going off.
