The Bemidji, MN System

I have a few questions about the sirens in Bemidji, Minnesota. I was looking at storm footage and came across video on the east side of Lake Bemidji with really low pitched EOWS* 612s. Does anyone know if these are that way on purpose, or if their tone cards are going bad? They sound awesome and men...

I bet that was the reason for switching to the more compact 612. The 812 was absolutely monstrous for a siren. I'm guessing the initial design was used so that two 408s stacked for easier manufacturing, versus a 612 using a 408 plus a separate two-horn segment. Maybe?

Uhh the Whelens go back to the home position after a signal, I thought. I've never seen a Tulsa Whelen face a different position before.
