Yeah, the brushes have definitely seen better days. Also notice how the pitch fluctuates a bit.

Sick Federal Model 2 in New Durham, NH

Special thanks to the fire department for letting me sound it off! This Model 2 seems to have a bearing issue, as it has trouble getting up to speed.

Interesting. I wonder if the 2910 is a replacement for the 4008 or if it's on a separate system. It's the only non 4008/3016 I could find. A few years ago, I talked to one of the guys at the power plant and he said that it was installed as a) a backup siren and b) a possible replacement in the far ...

There's an old 5B about 4.6 miles away from my house, and I'm impressed by how clearly it can be heard, even from indoors.
