The tag I have pictured had several layers of paint on it.
I used so aircraft coating/paint remover in a spray can, leaving it on for a few mins. then wiping it off, it took about 15 mins. to get it this far. I didn't want to go futher, cause it would of made this a blank tag.

Well, I got the test kit. It tested positive for lead being present. I already have the proper gloves and eye protection. I bought the proper respirator for the job. I switched to using the BIX stripper and a scotch bite pad.
with a little elbow grease, the paint is coming off.
I do have a mask specificly for paint striping.
I couldn't find a lead test kit a home depot, I'll check lowes today.

At least you didn't see any orange, lead paint for certain.
Is lead paint only orange?
I was going to go to home depot today to get a lead test kit.
The paint came off very easily on the out side but is a pain in the inside.
Weird.
