Re: Lowest mounted Siren in US

Sorry about that. Here's a model 2 in Mesick MI. Its across the street from the family dollar in the little concrete square garden Southeast corner. Visible on street view.

Re: Lowest mounted Siren in US

Here's a lower siren. Not the lowest, but its about level with the road behind the control station.

Re: How do I repaint my AR timer and keep the CD logo?

Most industrial electric suppliers have replacement equipment cabinets. My local parish uses some to house power connections for the yearly festival.

Re: VC Summer Nuclear is Decommissioning their sirens

While VC Summer will no longer be operating the sirens that don't necessarily mean that the sirens would be going away completely. What exactly is going to happen with this system when everything is set and done? There's a chance that the plant will allow communities in the area to keep various sir...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

...please just leave them alone. I'm sure they don't want a bunch of enthusiasts hounding them about their siren. You bring up a good point. Firefighters have more important things to do. Only one person has to make a quick 30 second call. Also, use the non emergency number for non emergencies. I h...

Re: VC Summer Nuclear is Decommissioning their sirens

Yeah, I can understand decommissioning older sirens like thunderbolts since they require oil and belt changes, but something as new as modulators and 2001's is pretty silly. Of course this is the nuclear industry which has a history of sillyness. There's a video on YouTube of the first test of the z...

Re: VC Summer Nuclear is Decommissioning their sirens

An addednum to my previous post, sirens are used to draw people to their phones. I get notifications from ebay, Twitter, weather, low battery etc. They all blend together. How will one more post stick out? Not to mention that this is just 2 years after the California wildfires where Verizon cut phon...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

I also think it is a pneumatic siren. I see barely any room for a chopper. Lightning detector. Has the dome, the light, the loudspeakers, can't imagine it's anything else. No way it's a pneumatic siren, no compressor setup at the bottom or air lines running into building, not to mention it looks no...
