Re: Older Siratrol radio question.

cgd - Have you gotten any farther on this project? Don't know where you are, or if you're even in the U.S.. In my various travels, 154.3700 MHz is often a 'Public Safety' frequency; think Fire Depts & Police, etc. No, you really don't want to be found playing around with your project on that fre...

Re: Siratrol Radio Controller Help

I realized after I was posting that I might have come across too harshly and letting all the air out of your balloons. But, better that than you get into it & realize it's over your head.

Good luck with the other Receiver!

Re: Siratrol Radio Controller Help

soundman -

Do you have, or have access to, the manual for the receiver for this controller? If you don't and you have no experience tuning receivers, you might be in deep pucky.

How far exactly are you wanting to change frequencies?

Re: Siratrol Radio Controller Help

Tone filters, most likely can. How big a difference in RF frequency? I don't know how old the 'Siratrol' controller is, but the older the receiver unit is, the more likely that it would have come in different 'band-splits' that were pretty narrow; maybe only 2, 3, or 4 mhz wide. (say 146 to 150, 150...

Re: Siratrol Radio Controller Help

Whoa whoa whoa, slow down!! First, how far a change in radio frequency do you need to do? If it's more than a few 10's of khz, you'll need to align the receiver section for best sensitivity. Assuming you have alignment instructions and a proper, calibrated signal generator and such to do it. Maybe f...

Oh, sorry; I lost track of this thread. The Federal Modulator, at Meredith College in Raleigh, that was installed by Radio Commun. Comp;

As for the Whelen, and Appalachian State in Boone, I don't know who installed it.

Re: Federal Signals Soundproof Test Room - 1955

Had the distinct pleasure of visiting Federal for a siren training class in about 2007 or 2008. Got to go into the anechoic chamber; don't think it's the same one pictured; the one I was in was a cube about 15 ft. on a side, interior dimensions. And yes, it was a weird sensation being in it, even wi...
