I have one of these sirens. There are some differences from the Federal Model 2. Ports is one. There is also no skirt at the frame/stator split and no intake cone on top.

I have several of these on sirens in Schuylkill County. If I'm not mistaken this is an older one. Mine are smaller and have a hinged door. I only have one guess because I did it. Besides the 4 screws that hold the ring on did you remove the other 2 screws that go down through field plates? They are threaded into the frame too.

We have rescued a couple more sirens. The Sterling and the old Federal Model 2 have to stay with the museum. I am trying to get the board to sell a couple of the other ones to raise funds. Audicity is a program you can download on your laptop and generate any single tone or combination of tones for any duration. There is also a DTMF tone generator you can download. Both are free

Don't know if you payed any attention to the power lines running to those thunderbolts but there are 2 insulated and one bare. These are single phase!!!!
