Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

Hey guys, did anyone hear Franklin County test today? I'm pretty sure they skipped it, as I heard nothing at all when I should've heard at least 2 Whelens. I can't seem to find any news or reason why they wouldn't test.

Re: The Netherlands siren map

It says I need access. I think you need to make the map public for it to work, not just link only.

Re: Where there any Whelen Sirens in different colours other than Black and White?

Cannon beach: There is a video for these sirens operating in an ambience, they play sounds of cow mooing to signal it is a test. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/E52UHuPsytY  I thought that was fake at first! It turns out there's a bunch of videos of this whelen "moo" tone. They do...

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

9-7-20 Tornado Warning: Dublin Sirens went off twice. Shortly after the first Franklin County warning was issued, they fired off about 10 seconds of air horn (likely a mistake XD). It took them until 10 minutes after the warning was issued for the sirens to go off (at least in their legitimate wail...

Re: What do sirens in your area warn of?

Franklin County sirens, as far as I know, have only ever been activated for tornado warnings. They will theoretically activate for other emergencies at the EMA’s discretion, with live voice too. As far as other sirens in my area go, there are a few at Columbus State for campus emergencies (never use...

Re: Advice For Newer Enthusiasts?

Welcome to the board! I have been interested in sirens for maybe 4 years, and interested in severe weather for longer. After so much time, I’ve collected more and more knowledge. I am by no means an expert, but you bet I’ve made progress. For finding sirens, there’s no easy way to learn besides prac...

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

I have a bit of a strange question that I've been meaning to ask for some time. One time I was looking at a WPS-3000 in Franklin County, and it started rotating. No sound, and I believe it was a Thursday a bit after noon. My question is, has anyone else seen this happen? Maybe it was some type of si...

Re: Shopping for a tone alert weather radio.

I have a Midland WR400 deluxe which works pretty good, but there are tons of different models of radios. I bet there’s a whole forum dedicated to them, but there’s people on here that will know more than me.

According to uncommonsense, 2011. I think that’s what the wiki says too.

Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

My suspicion is that after they changed to 560hz in 2007, they still hadn’t fixed the pitch dropping yet. They probably noticed it this time, so they fixed it very quickly, making 530hz rare. The 560hz 2020s were then sold until 2011 or 2012. Mind you this is complete speculation, but it would make ...
