Found an xT22 in my city

Thu Sep 25, 2008 10:16 pm

I was browsing the Belleville news online today during school when I found an article stating that the St. Clair County Jail siren was being tested. Never did I know that we had a siren for it. So, I went on Google maps and found the jail, looking for the siren, and I found an xT22 mounted on the roof. It's very nifty - shame I wasn't there to hear it being tested.

It's a 2T22 up on there.

When I saw the siren the first time, I actually walked there via MetroLink and MetroBus one time. I was siren walking freshman year around Belleville and saw a sign for the jail and I took a chance on if one were going to be there. Sure enough, there it was.

If I had a better camera than my phone, I would definitely go around and take pictures of the sirens around here.

Here's what I know of:
2001 at the intersection of Frank Scott and South Belt West
Whelen Vortex at the fire department near the old Belleville West school
Whelen Vortex at the fire department near the old Wal-Mart
Whelen Vortex outside of a new neighborhood near Sullivan Drive (I think it was down further from the Memorial MetroLink)
2001 at the fire department across from Regions Bank near the school
STH-10 at Melvin Price Memorial Park (do you know if this is still active?)
Model something across the street from the Vortex near the old BW school
Whelen Vortex near a cemetery down the road from the Sportsplex
Whelen Vortex somewhere around Millstadt, I think it was somewhere around the Bel-Clair Soccer Fields
2T22 at the jail, as already discussed

Would you happen to know about any other sirens around here? I'd look myself, but I need to conserve gas for school and Google Maps doesn't help much.

Looks like it's been replaced with a Sentry of some sort. Maybe a 20V2T.

That 2T22 didn't look obsolete at all! It probably could've gone a few more years! They shouldn't have wasted all that money on a shiny new Sentry. It's a 2T22 wannabe.
