Chaffey College 2T22

Fri Dec 22, 2006 9:53 pm

Went out to Ontario today and decided to stop by Chaffey College to take a few pictures of their 2T22. So far, this is the only 2T22 I know of in So. California. I also ran a tape measure up the pole to the the bottom row air intake and it's about 12 or 13 feet off the ground. In the third picture; you see a railing in the forground. That is a ramp that leads up a slight hill but at the top; you would be level with the bottom row of horns. That would be loud up there if it sounded.

nice pics! It would be pretty sweet if they used that as a class bell!

I went to Chaffey for several years. I've walked by that one many times. I was interested in sirens even then, but I didn't know what type that was.

That's low enough to cause instant deafness.

There was an Allertor in North San Bernardino. I don't know if it's still there. Rubideux had an STH-10 on it's Fire Station. And the LA Co. FD has a Tbolt on it's Monrovia station, next to where McDonald-Douglas is/was.

Federal 2T22 or ?

Mon Dec 25, 2006 7:14 am

Whittier ,Ca. had two of them on their east side on Whitter Bl.
The 2t22 or 3t22 were located on buildings about four stories tall on
the north side of the street ,I have not been out in the area in several years _ so fate of sirens is unknown. :?
The other sirens on the west side of that city were Fed. model 5
for certin one of the model fives was removed from a GTE Verizen
telephone switch building years ago.

WOW! That sucker is mounted low! a very interesting leftover from the CD days,I wonder when the last time they spooled that thing up & where the AR controls for it are located? Possibly the administrative office?!
