Carter New Year Sirens!

Thu Jan 04, 2007 11:08 pm

Hey all,
Found some wicked WW2 Carter Nelson Sirens sounded for the new year, one was even sent to me in Mobile Phone format (3GP)

Heres the first, wound by drill, Credit Crownhill:

The second here, sounded by electric! Recorded from a mile away, giving it's legendary Air Raid Alert warning tone! Awesome Credit, Chris Merrett ([email protected]):

Thanks, Dan. Sounds like a war zone! All I set off for New Year's was an Italian-made "Martinshorn" and a couple of Roman candles. Our town used to blow the fire horns at midnight, but they shut them off years ago. There were many fireworks, as well as gunshots, since I was in a rural area in northern California outside city limits. The vast majority of gun owners here are extremely responsible and careful, so it is certain that they were shooting into a target rather than "Saddam style" in the air (this is not Los Angeles). At least we don't have that guy hanging around anymore! (Bad pun?)

Nice work. Though I really enjoy the video with those two sirens being spun during the daytime, your video has better sound quality. Outstanding!
