I got busted (and nearly arrested)last June attempting to video-record one of the sirens at the California Institution for Men (Chino Prison) close to where I live. I wasen't even on prison property, just on a sidewalk that ran right by the west fence of the prison but someone must have seen me leaning against the fence and got suspicious. Some security guards and a police officer confronted me shortly after the sirens went off and I was told I could not be photographing the prison property as they feared that I or someone else could use the pictures to help plan an escape. They were going to confenscate my camera and other items I had but they let me go after making sure I deleted everything in the camera.
I did get a few successful recordings two months later in August and another in November but I took them from further away and from my car while driving by just to remain discrete.
kx250rider; I also had a little trouble in HB last Friday as well. Even though the sirens were gone, I talked to some firefighters at the station by Edison Park and they told me the siren had been taken down a few weeks back. The siren controller was still inside the building though but, when I attempted to photograph it, I got yelled at by one of the firefighters who said I couldn't be takeing pictures of a (now unused) siren controller/AR timer due to possible national security issues.
