Question about siren shipping costs.

Thu Apr 12, 2007 9:03 pm

I have the chance to latch on to a decent used Model 5 siren currently located in PA. Just wondered if anyone had any idea as to how much it would cost to get it shipped to Texas and if motor freight would be the only way.

I'm not sure exactly what a Model 5 would cost to ship but it would probably be more than my STH10 cost (Georgia to Texas). That was about $300-400.

Shipping costs are very bad when it comes to anything heavy (such as sirens). The gas prices rising is not going to make it any better either. I hope I will be able to drive my truck when it is finished before gas would burn a hole in my wallet.

I drove back to Wisconsin from California to get my 2 T-bolts, and the cost of fuel was about $800  ... I probably could have shipped them for less, but half the fun of this hobby is going on a long trip to get a siren.

Yes, that's a real 500-lb Federal SD-10 I'm holding (braggart!)
