david fertig wrote:Hi. I just did a trade and ended up with the siren in this video. I am told it does work, but that the sound was dubbed in for the vid. It came from Oil City, Pa.

Based on some online searches, I believe it is a W.S. Darley???

Any info would be great. Age? Make? Value?

I have a good pic of it, but not sure how to post it on here.

And as of now, I have no plans to sell it. Just though it was neat.

Thanks,

That's a Darley Champion without the housing.

First question, does it run? I know they were asking an absurd amount for it on ebay.

The lack of a housing really affects the value, and their isn't much value for them unless they are the smaller sirens (like the model 2) or the larger ones that are getting rebuilt and put back into service.

Whatever it is, it looks like it's some sort of ancestor of the modern day KM Europ mechanical sirens, though in design it feels closer to this guy.
Don't wait. Take a siren photo today.

What is this siren here? It was installed near where I used to live and they only has it there for a few years before it was replaced by a whelen 2900 series for some reason. It was much louder and sounded much better than the whelen IMO.

Guys.. I was watching the all popular "Tornado Sirens In Chicago" video... and something caught my attention. In the background there is a siren what appears to be fast wail. but it just doesn't sound like the wail of a modulator at all.. any thoughts?

That background wail is just far too smooth to be a mechanical siren, as Ziginox mentioned to me.
