Hi everyone, long time no see!
I am going to try to record next week's NC State test. Is it at the same time, 12:15?
Thanks
D

I've been waiting for this! I'd love to hear their custom tone.
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.

For anyone who doesn't know, UNC Wilmington upgraded their siren system. I am looking into this now.
Edit: From the warning tones, they are probably ATI. They use whoop for the emergency tone, and westminister chimes for all clear.
What is the deal with that siren system? Their website has ATI tones and says they are voice capable but on the map, GSV, and satellite, they are obviously T-121s. Could they just have been replaced last year?

Was coming back to the office today when April's test went out, I was along main campus/Dan Allen/etc. 12:15 on the dot; wasn't ready for recording it. Oh, well, maybe next month's 1st Monday.

Camp Lejeune

Here's what I could find while scrambling around Camp Lejeune's area. I couldn't find any other sirens outside of Camp Lejeune's area. And yes, this is a pretty long reply.

Marine Corps Air Station

-- Possibly missing one siren in the area without coverage of which I cannot locate

34.70302, -77.44023 - Cooper/Hormann

34.71451, -77.46174 - Cooper/Hormann

34.7236, -77.47304 - Cooper/Hormann

34.726, -77.44597 - Whelen (an odd ball)

34.7198, -77.44253 - Cooper/Hormann

34.72204, -77.43124 - Possibly a Cooper/Hormann (I'm unsure)

Tarawa Terrace (and the nearby unmarked area)

34.73719, -77.37183 - Cooper/Hormann

34.73463, -77.36783 - Cooper/Hormann

34.73133, -77.37303 - Cooper/Hormann

34.7334, -77.38003 - Cooper/Hormann

34.73033, -77.38883 - Cooper/Hormann

34.74006, -77.39075 - Cooper/Hormann

34.73349, -77.40579 - Cooper/Hormann

Midway Park

34.72858, -77.33984 - Cooper/Hormann

34.7206, -77.32953 - Cooper/Hormann

Naval Medical Center (and the nearby suburban area)

-- This area is for sure incomplete.

34.71989, -77.36036 - Cooper/Hormann

34.71086, -77.34326 - Cooper/Hormann

34.70728, -77.36557 - Cooper/Hormann

34.70598, -77.38054 - Cooper/Hormann

34.70311, -77.37562 - Cooper/Hormann

Camp Lejeune (main area)

34.58895, -77.37309 - Cooper/Hormann

34.58561, -77.36466 - Cooper/Hormann

34.58561, -77.36466 - Cooper/Hormann

Other Large Unmarked Area

-- This for sure is incomplete too.

34.6763, -77.36571 - Cooper/Hormann

34.67314, -77.35724 - Cooper/Hormann

34.67314, -77.35724 - Cooper/Hormann

34.67314, -77.35724 - Cooper/Hormann

34.64435, -77.30769 - Cooper/Hormann

Last note, majority of the Cooper/Hormann's appear 8 horns, as a few appear to have 2 or even 4 horns. It's hard to tell due to the satellite view being on a strange offset within Camp Lejeune's area.
Sorry for the late reply, I never saw this post. Thanks a bunch, I'm updating the map right now!

EDIT: Added, although it looks like there are a few repeats at the end!

While on a rafting trip, i noticed a Model 2 on top of the Duke Energy Walters Hydroelectric plant. It's used to warn rafters of when the plant is about to open up the floodgates, releasing lots of water and creating a hazardous environment for them. It's located at 35°46'28.46"N 83° 5'58.36"W, just inside the North Carolina state line. You can also see it from streetview.

Added, and you are right about it being right on the state line! (for the record, I do include sirens just over the state line if their sound radius is also in NC)

Brunswick NPP

All the sirens are Whelen 2908s, not 2808s.

33.97837, -78.15648 - Whelen 2908

33.98698, -78.13805 - Whelen 2908

33.94496, -78.00121 - Whelen 2908

33.95818, -78.08204 - Whelen 2908

34.04858, -78.08238 - Whelen 2908

34.06288, -78.0929 - Whelen 2908

34.07845, -78.0571- Whelen 2908

34.06288, -78.0929 - Whelen 2908

34.07502, -78.02603 - Whelen 2908

34.00096, -78.04578 - Whelen 2908

These sirens are usually 1.9 miles apart from another, but can also be as low to 1.5-1 mile apart from another.

There are a total of 36 sirens that are part of the Early Warning System for Brunswick NPP.

McGuire NPP

I think they're all 2001-DCs. I'm not too sure.

35.51296, -81.06244 - FS 2001

35.48305, -81.04882 - FS 2001

35.46553, -81.02325 - FS 2001

35.53236, -80.96609 - FS 2001

35.40227, -81.014 - FS 2001

35.36873, -81.04765 - FS 2001

35.336, -81.03648 - FS 2001

35.30051, -80.9635 - FS 2001

35.29423, -80.91704 - FS 2001

I can't really say how far apart each siren is from another since its very jeopardized.

There are a total of 67 sirens part of the Early Warning System for McGuire NPP.

Do you know what the status of the STH-10 is?
