What happened to the parent company of American Signal Corporation Hörmann GmbH? Did they put out of their investment? Is ASC independent?

The parent company of ASC was Alerting Communicators of America, (ACA) died out because of poor sales. Then Mr. Biersach went on to buy ASC and then after some years, it is as we know it today. A little more info about asc: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_ ... orporation.

Hello, fellow siren enthusiasts. I'm going to be back on the board from time to time but probably won't post much.

Unfortunately, you have misunderstood my question, what I've tried to say is, is American signal Corporation independent from Hörmann GmbH now? Also, your information on ACA is flawed, ACA did not die out completely before American Signal Corporation happened. American signal Corporation is the predecessor of ACA. Jim Biersach was forced to sell ACA after it had gone bankrupt to Hörmann GmbH. However, my question still stands... Does Hörmann GmbH still own American Signal Corporation?

No, Hörmann GmbH does not own or have anything to do with the current American Signal Corporation. ASC is now owned by one of the former sales guys from ACA.

From what I recall, ASC was bought from Hormann by Dale Moeller and Jim Biersach back in 1998 when the company was struggling.

After Dale Moeller recovered ASC from Hormann, Hormann kept its America branch open (unattached to ASC). They renamed it "Alerting Solutions", and they sold E-Class/ATI style Kingstar sirens originally hooked up to ASC controls but later used outsourced UltraVoices. The only active examples of these sirens are in Contra Costa County AFAIK, there are inactive examples in Big Bear, and the Mods in Pacifica replaced UltraVoice-equipped ASI sirens. There are no confirmed examples outside of California. I think Alerting Solutions still exists as a company, but they haven't done anything siren-related as of late.

here are some examples: https://www.google.com/maps/@38.0272358 ... 384!8i8192

UV: https://www.google.com/maps/@37.6096824 ... 312!8i6656
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.
