Is this a Musical Siren or a Vent?

Mon Mar 18, 2024 2:00 pm

I found this in Phoenix, AZ and I looked at it and was like, "Is that a Musical Siren??????". Based on the fact that it has a vent coming out of it, it's probably just a big exhaust fan of sorts.

I'll most likely look dumb once I hear what it is...

Just a vent. The only music sirens in the US are a few unconfirmed first gen units. All 12 second generation units have been found and all are in Japan. There's also a duct on the side.

Okay. Just wanted to make sure, but if I'm being honest, it does kinda look like the Japanese musical siren. Thanks! :)

No known music sirens have existed within the United States.

No, it is not a music siren. Although it vaguely matches the description of a music siren, the 2nd generation music siren's housing is able to disassembled from all sides, whereas the object in the picture looks like it's meant to be taken off to reveal what may be inside. It is also a bit too large to be a music siren. Not only that, but I'd imagine if they did have a music siren, they would install it on the highest point of their building(s). Although I appreciate you thinking it's a music siren, it's probably just some kind of AC unit. However, it is thought that some 1st generation music sirens may have been installed and used in the U.S., although I highly doubt they are still up.

Every time I leave my therapy there’s a building with a vent that looks just like a Model 5 and I freak out every time
