Haha yes. That is always a very comforting sound to hear at night during the spring and summer months.

I thhought they had at least one TBolt 1000 in Lewisville. I guess it must have been replaced with a Whelen. All I heard was Whelens in that video. The whoop signal was cool.

Lewisville installed 7 or 8 1000's in 1981. In 2002 the system was upgraded to 9 Vortex R-4's and 3 WPS 2810's. The system has since grown to about 16 total sirens, with the addition of a couple 2810's.

I see you have met the Mosquitoes. :D

The whoop does sound good when you have the different Vortexes all whooping away. The echo is cool and sadly is impossible to catch with a recorder.

Believe it or not, it actually is a good thing to hear the Vortexes boom to life in the alert mode mere seconds after letting off the PTT with a tornado report.

If this season is anything like last season, we'll hear them a couple of times for the real thing again, most likely in the middle of the night.

I might add that the Thunderbolts were all single-tone 1000s. They did an excellent job as well, but the coverage was not what the Whelen system of today has.
"Highland Village to Chief 480..Are the sirens going off? We're not sure if we set them off right or not."
