My topic on hifi siren recording:

http://airraidsirens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3118

As long as your original uploaded video file is done in stereo, I think youtube will also recognize as stereo. Youtube used to be only mono, but that changed with that video of the 2t22. I'm planning upload my next siren audio recording onto The FreeSound Project. I will also upload the video to stage6.com, since it doesn't compromise on quality, sound and video, like youtube does. stage6 also allows you all to download the video, without the need of a youtube ripper like tubehunter.

I was in the market for a professional sound recorder about a couple weeks ago. I just bought a Roland Edirol R-09.

I will be using it to record on test day coming up here on the first working day of the month.

How much does the Roland cost, and can it run on batteries?

I snagged it at the last moment on eBay while I was at work. It cost me $270.

It runs on 2 AA batteries. It's a little bigger than a pack of pocket tissues, and weighs about 6.0 oz. It records in HiFi stereo (up to 320kbps WAV-PCM or MP3 and up to 48kHz) using an SD or SDHC card.

I'll primarily use it to record sirens from here on. The true test will be how it handles 110 dB and beyond with it's Automatic Gain Control and adjustable sensitivity. Hopefully no sound clipping.

As a secondary use, I'll be using it to record nature sounds, in-flight ambience, and in-car sound action (mainly maximum acceleration musical notes from a VQ35 engine  ).

These are the type of microphones I have:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/search.html?oa=rnk&sw=okm

I do recommend them, as those are the ones I used to record 'Essex Flood Siren 2'
I have the Klassik A3.
Are they available to America?

Dan.

Unfortunately doesn't seem like it. Nice microphones though. What do you record on to? MiniDisc? Laptop?

I'm also very interested in hearing the stereo version of the Essex Flood Siren test.

They simply plug into the input socket of your laptop yes, 3.5mm is it? I plugged mine into the Mic in socket on my Camcorder, hense the good quality :D
Where can I upload the stereo Essex Flood Siren 2? I have full 1411kbs Stereo Wav, and 320kbs Stereo MP3.

Or even the video is someone could host it perhaps?

Which do you recommend?

Dan.

Stage6.com for the video.
I like stage6 because, again, they allow you to download videos and your videos are played back without compromised quality. Oh yeah, No size or time limit on the videos you upload there either :D :D

If you want to just upload the sound, I would host it on the FreeSound Project website. I have an account there, so just let me know and I can host it.
