T-bolt in another song......

Fri Jun 23, 2006 10:55 pm

Tony! Toni! Ton?! sampled the sound of a Thunderbolt siren in their song titled "blues" (a great example of the "New jack swing" style made popular in the early '90s).

A clip can be heard here:
http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/a ... 881,00.htm

If you listen closely, the sound is sampled in rhythm/in short bursts. This could have been a 1003, however I'm sure it was just one of the many model 1000's installed during the cold war.
As I'm sure Adam Smith can attest to, you can do all kinds of stuff with a midi interface and a keyboard. If anybody has a copy of the whole song, there is a long burst of the sound at the beginning. This is probably the only song I know of with a sound clip of an air raid siren that sounds soulful instead of spooky.

Enjoy (and get down!)

Yeah,
The audio quality is not that good.
Not sure what else to try at the moment.

My guess is that it's an old recording of a 2t22.

I do enjoy the use of air raid sirens as a percussion instrument. Who'd have thought?

It didn't sound as high pitched as a 2T or 3T22, and the unique blower pulses of the thunderbolt were evident....I'll see if I can record a wav file with my wife's palm and host it on my server space. We're packing up to move down the road from here, so that could be a day or two.

Hey y'all!

Has anyone ever heard the song 'Christmas At Ground Zero'
by Weird Al Yankovic? A dual-tone can be heard during the
middle as well as fading out in the end of the song, and the timing
of the attack wail fits the chorus pretty nicely

Also I think it may have been discussed before (sorry, I'm the
new guy :-) but there's also a dual-tone to be heard in the beginning
of Black Sabbath's War Pigs.

In Green Day's "Warning", they have T-bolt 1000's or Carters doing alert and attack. It could even be an STL- or STH-10.
If your siren is a-failin'
Chances are that it's a Whelen
And if it's just about to die
Then it must be an ATI
