EOWS 612, you are right, it is a relatively old siren and you can see the chain drive exposed in back.

Robert, East St. Louis is actually bankrupt to the point where most intersections have become 4-way stops because the city cannot pay the electricity to run the traffic lights.

It's funny that East St. Louis is "bankrupt", since they have a casino (Casino Queen) that does very well. It's a matter of a city government who doesn't know how to act correctly! If you're familiar with Gary, Indiana or Flint, Michigan, then you've got an idea of what East St. Louis is. These 3 cities may not officially be "sister cities", but they should be.

Adam, thanks for keeping the thread alive. Also, for your information, out in St. Charles County, the 3 new siren installations (Whelen WPS-2910's) are all out in the New Melle/Lake Sherwood areas.

Wow!
Sad. Reminds one of Mexico.
They now spend much more for fuel at those now inefficent intersections than the electricity would cost.
What a waste.

Adam, is that EOWS 408 the one that you posted a picture of on the EOWS 115 thread, where is it? By the way, there's a town called Centrilla on the Illnios side that's got a ACA Hurricane with a square horn!

uncommonsense

Speaking of which, I live in Belleville (don't try to hunt me down - my parents are very protective and would have my head if someone I met on the internet came by) near the auto repair facility pictured. We have a few FS 2001's that run in Alert every first Tuesday of the month, some Whelens that run in Attack, and some sirens that I have no clue if they run. I'd get pictures, but I'm out of money, out of gas, and have a very crappy phone camera. So to improvise, I'll just post pictures off Google Maps in Street View. I couldn't get the Whelen in Street View because the street next to the school / auto repair shop isn't mapped.

Already pictured, but just another for the hell of it.

If you go up the road toward the fire department down S Belt W, you'll run into this 2001 in plain view as you approach the cemetery. I can hear this from a few blocks East of the Convenient near Union School just fine.

Another 2001 near the bank down N Belt W.

Not sure what this is, but it's only stacked once. Nothing like the 2T22 or 3T22. Doesnt' sound like this is in use. It's located at Melvin Price Memorial Park.
The sniper rifle. For when you want to reach out and touch someone. Like blow their head off.

Maplewood

Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:44 am

When I lived in Maplewood, there was a Thunderbolt 1000 at the city service yard on Laclede Station Road, just south of I-40. That was in 1982, and it looked a bit delapitated back then. My guess is that it was owned by the city and that it is no longer there. (I moved East in 1986).

BTW, our condolances to our brother FF's there after this horrible week, with FF Hummert being killed in cold blood.
