Yellow trucks were popular in Oregon in the 80's, and a few white ones also, but all the new ones seem to be red. Also, more newer trucks are reverting to mechanical sirens, especially in Portland.

Concerning VD, I don't know. Never had it.

I thoughthat may be why they went back to firengine red.
Big reflective stripes or letters is a nice compromise.
Wife and I wear those lime green safety vests when riding the tandem.

Denver fire trucks have been white for years.

All I can say is VD is nothing to clap about.

I once wento a VD clinic.
RN said I need not worry: "You can only catch it by having sex with another person. In your case, that would be an impossibility.".

As much as I like mechanical sirens, electronic are better because of ability for voice instruction, full volume at low tones (mechanical produce less volume at lower frequencies), less powerequirements, lighter weight, and more pleasant Hi-Lo. (I use Hi-Lo when traveling on Interstate highways when traffic is backed up.) I think drivers really appreciate that.

Electronic will have an advantage if FedSig's new Rumble siren is a success. Rumble siren works only with electronic sirens.

HEY, who is ruining my attempt at -22 Karma?

I think you have way more faith in voice over an electronic siren than you should have. I'm waiting for the first one I can understand.

I am referring to a vehiclelectronic siren.

Before I knew better, I would speak calmly and clearly directing drivers
to "Please move right." etc.

Done well, it is clear.
(I also lower P.A. volumenough to diminish distortion.
Many have it too loud.)

Now I ask, "Can you please move right?"

I need to learn the phrase in Spanish for all the Mexican drivers who either have no idea of what they shouldo, or who don't care about someonelse's problem. "It's not my Casa burning - I'm late to my dog fight."
