Isn't Jarrell Texas only 30-40 north of Cedar Park. I don't need t remind anyone of that Tornado! I believe this area gets its fair share of tornadoes from all the facts I'm finding on the internet.

Anyways I found a video on Youtube of the sirens going off for an actual warning in Cedar Park last year and they sound pretty average to me. Here is the link:

Compared to North or NW, TX, they don't seem to ever get much of anything. Many cities around there do not have sirens in place at all. Both Austin and San Antonio don't... I really don't see this as a huge loss I guess. We are talking about Cedar Park, not Dallas, or some other large city.

Ok, so if you can't hear the sirens, buy a weather radio!! Mine has battery back up so when the power does go out, it still works. Its stupid to take down functioning sirens meant to be heard outdoors anyway. Yes, people don't carry cell phones all of the time, but come on, if your out of earshot, keep your eyes to the sky! Thats what people did before emergency broadcast systems, before sirens, etc.

Wow, that's my dose of STUPID for the weekend.

I still don't see how paying $300,000 once is cheaper than paying $25,000 every year.

This is so sad...

Yes, sirens have been around much longer than cell phones and text messaging. And the 2001 is still made, but it's also the most popular siren in the world. In addition, Texas lies on the southern boundary of "Tornado Alley," so that's why it's sad and stupid to see the sirens come down. :(
