Judging from a earlier post about that museum that kx 250 rider made when he visited there, he took pics of a restored sd 10 and 500at that the museum owned. Maybe they'll spool either one of those up........

As far as I know, those are the only two they have. Wouldn't those both be technically too new for the 1942 re-enactment?

I had NO IDEA that they were going to blow one of those sirens for the event!!!! Now I will break all other plans so I can be sure to be there :P

Anyone else?

Charles
Yes, that's a real 500-lb Federal SD-10 I'm holding (braggart!)

Some sirens that were around during WWII were Sterling M series, Federal Model 2 and 5 single tone, Erick Fire Sirens, Decot models, B&M, Codewell, Buell air horns, and probably others that have long since disappeared like my avatar siren. Dual tone sirens were relatively rare until the 1950's, except in England.

Dont think I will be there but I will try to Listen or at least get
a little closer. With 500 to 700 expected to show up parking could be
be a problem ? Hope NO rain even though we are 7 inches below
normal this winter. A Federal model Five or STL-10 would be perfect
given the slope of the hill in the area . I wonder when they will
set it off? Perhaps after dark with the Fireworks.

I wouldn't really call it a party. More a commemoration.

Anyone going to be filming it? I would love to be there, only the money and distance factor. :(

I don't believe that it is a Hedberg, because they didn't make sirens with angled rotors. The only versions I have seen of this same siren are mounted vertically with a cover over the motor. Someone suggested a while back that it could be from Buell, which made air horns. I have seen a photo of a dual tone version of this, with two angled heads on either side of the motor and mounted horizontally, so perhaps this company had different models, some of which mounted vertically. Whatever it is, it was made in the late 30's or early 40's.

It's probably just a hand crank they'll use but who knows.
