I see that Selfridge ANGB, has the ASC "Giant Voice" system. This should be interesting to hear, especially if anyone can record the system in action.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

Do you know that they have the ASC Giant Voice system or where you just going off the article which called it the Giant Voice? Right now the government is mixing up thier base sirens between Federal Modulators (most bases run by the Navy use these), Whelen and ASC I-Force sirens. So far all of the Navy bases I have been on to have the Modulators (Indian Head, MD, Pax River, MD, Naval Ship Parts in Mechanicsburg, Pa, Little Creek in VA) while the Army is the real mixed bag. Letterkenny Army Depot here in Pa has ASC I-force sirens as does Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, but interestingly enough the Edgewood Arsenal which is an adjunct of Aberdeen has Whelen 2810 sirens (I won't detail the amount of nasty they have at Edgewood, but you can guess by the size of the siren). DLA New Cumberland (New Cumberland Army Depot) has Whelen 2903 sirens and Fort Detrick which is also Army has 3 cell Modulators. Basically they might have any of the electronic sirens listed above or they could very well have the ASC E class sirens (like the Carlisle Army War College) with the Giant Voice system.

I know they received a new siren system recently, but was not aware of what it is. The Base is calling it their "Giant Voice" siren system. I know ASC is the manufacturer of these systems.

Where I work we have no outdoor notification system but we do have an indoor system that is used for paging, it is known as the Giant Voice system in keeping with tradition but it is not made by ASC... it is just a paging system. I am wondering if it is the same thing at thier ANG base in that the Giant Voice is just the nickname for the system and not the actual name. The only way to know I guess is to be outside the gate when it happens where you can still hear it LOL

We have mods at the base I work at (Robins), and they call it the giant voice system.

Redstone Arsenal has mostly ASC E-classes, a couple of 2001s, a model 2(t), and three Altec Lansing Horns as it turns out.
