Vernon CT to resume monthly siren testing

Tue Mar 13, 2007 7:23 am

As some of you may know, especially long time members of this board, my town, Vernon CT, stopped testing their sirens about 5 years ago after a very short period of monthly testing (5-6 months). Today there article on the front page of our free community newspaper The Reminder: "Vernon siren system prepered for monthly testing" The tests will start on 4/7 and will take place each 1st saturday of the month at noon, same as they did before. Here's a scanned copy of the article:
1st part: Image

2nd part:Image

also if you visit http://www.vernonprepared.com you'll see a pic of Allen TX's old square horn 20v2t. Trust me, we don't have it. I'm going to e-mail the EM director and send him a pic of the 3T22.

Also the sirens at the locations mentioned are:

Station 141: 3T22
Station 341: 12 port 5
Station 441: 12 port 5
Dart Hill RD: 12 port 5
Tunnel RD: single toned 2

of course. On the 7th you'll get 2 recordings or a recording and video, depending on if I can borrow a camcorder on test day. I'm going to leave the computer recorder on to get the 3T22 from the house (I'll make sure the dog's inside this time  ), and I'll be either recording or videoing the Dart Hill RD 5 with the possibility of getting activation tones as well (I've got to pin down which frequency the sirens will be toned out on). Now last time they tested I sat about 50 feet from the 5 and it failed. I'm trying again, from the Walgreens that's now acorss from it. If it fails again, I'll at least have another recording of the 3T22.
