3016 test lakewood CO

Those 3016's sounded a lot like Federal electronic sirens. Is anyone sure the sirens use Whelen boxes, or is it a custom sound format?

Wow. I hail from St. Louis, 3016 capital of the world. And let me tell you--that is not the typical Whelen tone used for them. I don't know if that's a modified dual tone created by Whelen for them or not (all the ones in St. Louis are single tone). But let me tell you--that is not like any 3016 I've ever heard before.

Though, I will say. I'd have trouble beliving that there'd be a newer Whelen control system activating Federal boxes. That wouldn't make much sense. So I'm pretty well inclined to belive its Whelen tones--just ones we've not heard.

I remember hearing someone mentioning that Tulsa OK's 3016 system has a few like this. One can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g13aXjINU_A it's right in the beginning, just before a few normal ones are heard.

Whelen offered 3016s in dual tone when they were made.

Didn't Federal Signal use analog tone generators in the Siratone series?

That was me about the Tulsa sirens, yes there are several that are dual tone both like the one in the video and a lower pitch dual tone.
