Asheville, NC Airport

Sat Aug 09, 2014 11:35 pm

Atop the former fire station. Bumped daily at 0630. Newly-built station opened in 2014 is adjacent.

I wonder if this was part of Asheville's original CD system?

If I had to guess, I would say no... a lot of the airport fire stations have a warning device of some kind. It sounds stupid to say, but there are some airports where the crash trucks are manned or supplemented by the maintenance department. There is a button in the tower that someone hits, it sets off the siren and an announcement is made over the radio for the units to respond. So in other words, this is probably for the airport department's use and not part of a CD system of any kind.
