B&M sirens online

B&M is online! They make fire truck sirens. They also used to make outdoor warning sirens as well. I absolutely love the sound of the old Siro-Drift sirens.

Thanks for the reference. I prefer these to the Q2B. They also used to make outdoor warning sirens that looked like a Carters and had their characteristic straight intake tube. I think they had a 12-14 ratio (neutral 3rd F-Ab/A), but I only saw one of them in a photo.

Me too!

It is interesting to note the difference in sound between the S8 and the Super Chief. The S8 is lower and more throatier, the Super Chief is a little more nasal sounding. IMHO, either one beats the sound of the Q.

I miss hearing the sound of the old LAFD or LACoFD Task forces, with all sorts of B&Ms sounding all at once, sometimes with a Federal Interceptor thrown in the mix. Such "character" in siren sound is missing today! The Q sounds the same wherever you are. It's a bit sterile if you ask me.

The Q is a great siren, bit the only problem is, its the ONLY siren on fire trucks. We do need a bit more variety. Haha, maybe we can convince B&M to start making outdoor warning sirens

Doesn't appear that they can be as loud as a Q.

Why do they so closely resemble a jet engine intake?
Guess they want the exponential flared intake - so do I - but it would look olde-fashioned to have just the thin-walled exponential funnel without the extra cowling around it to make it smooth looking.

I don't like the dull throaty sound.
I prefer the bright sizzle of a Q's generous harmonics.

The recording they have is really crappy. I have an old recording of several LA apparatus responding out of a station...very cool sounding indeed!

Because if they are not bolted down, they can fly.

It reminds me of the 50's automobiles with their features resembling jets and rockets.
