I think it would be a good idea.
As far as current sirens, There's a Fedelcode 5 serving as a noon whistle somewhere in the city, and evidence of a CD system full of T-Bolts exists.

Flood sirens might be helpful.

The Fedelcode 5 is on a power plant.

New Orleans never had a full T-Bolt system. They had 83 Model 2 and 2T sirens and 2 T-Bolts.

Most of the 2s and 2Ts were left after abandonment, but many were lost in Katrina.

I wonder if any of those are still left? Ian and I siren hunted on google earth in that area a year or so ago, and I don't think we found any.
24, and not dead yet.

Ah yes, that's where it was. I remember your video of it. Wonder if they fixed the damper yet?

Whoops, my bad on that one. I have to wonder, why did they choose Model 2(T)s? Seems like an awfully small siren for such a large area. Seems like a system of T22s or TBs would've done a better job since they obviously wanted Federal.

Well that's a shame. I wonder how many are still left?

The system was installed in the early/mid 1950s. I don't believe that 2T22s were out yet, though they may have been.

In a city setup like New Orleans that has a central business district and a gridded system of solid urban low-story neighborhoods, they're going to have much better indoor and outdoor coverage with 80 small sirens vs just a few larger ones. The T-Bolts were installed with coverage overlapping the 2Ts. They would have had nearly full coverage without the T-Bolts. The 2Ts were triangle-spaced approx every 1/2 mile
