Hi, I saw on youtube that the klaxon ES near Severnside has been replaced with a FS DSA 6.
Does anyone have a recording of a Klaxon ES directly? I've heard a view poorly made recordings of the Broadmoor ES but I didn't get the full effect.

Hi! I've been doing some more siren stalking and have successfully found some more NEVER REALLY KNOWN ABOUT CS8s!

These are part of the plymouth docks siren.

The first one is located at 50.395670, -4.179739 and is on a pole, protected by a cage.

The second one is located at 50.387799, -4.179328 and is also located on a pole protected by a cage, with some scaffold around it.
You can see this one sounding here https://youtu.be/CklQwiaCFTM?t=59, although it appears that the shutter does not open.

This system appears to be a bit of a mystery, so any info would be appreciated!
That's odd. Is there any more, by any chance?

They're sirens dotted around the dockyard as nuclear submarines are docked and serviced there. It seems to me as if the system is placed around the perimeter of the site as opposed to Portsmouth's which have the sirens installed on some warehouse roofs. Great finds, by the way. I really need to get the backlog of locations onto the map!

Found some videos on the Plymouth sirens being sounded and it is VERY peculiar.
I think there is speculation that some, if not all the sirens are on VFDs or the like and one (or more perhaps) has been set to a different run frequency (Such as 60Hz) giving a siren a more American tone much like an xt22.

If there was a xt22 it would sound like a generic British siren because of it being on 50hz. It also sounds like on of those tri-tone Gents sirens.

No, I didn't say there was an xt22. I was describing the sound of one to be similar to that of one of the sirens at the Dock. I am fully aware about the RPM changes with frequency.
Think you might want to go and look at some more videos because it definitely doesn't sound like the Tri-tone style Gents'. The siren is most likely on a VFD which is set to run at 60hz as I mentioned before, therefore giving the siren a higher RPM.

I know you didn't say there was an XT22. I am not an idiot. My ears heard what they heard, and maybe yours heard different.

There actually is a 3T22 in the UK, just not part of Plymouth's system. It is in Scotland.

Exactly, but if the 'generic british sirens' were being run on 60hz, mabye off of a VFD as Larget said then they would sound like american ones ;)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xo5y71fyEM Here is another video of the sirens. I believe you are right about the sirens running on 60hz.
