I'm not entirely sure what kind of siren this is (I'm not too well-versed on electronic models), but it is located at the Prax Terminal in Jarrow, Northumberland, at location 54.98290641758699, -1.4783764819259821. Looks pretty mouldy/overgrown.

Edit: Nevermind, ignore me, this siren was already mapped, my bad...

I would quickly like to bring to attention that there may be/have been a siren situated in Longtown, Carlisle. I have heard reports from some of my family members that they remember hearing one sounding when they were in the town, and from what I gather, this was relatively recently (within the last 30 years or so). I am not personally going to be devoting hours of time looking for this siren, but I wanted to bring it to attention for anyone who is more willing to find it.

Here is the town's location:
55.00995032642556, -2.966685277127862
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Longt ... ?entry=ttu

UPDATE:

Ok, so I did end up doing a little bit of searching. It turns out that MOD Longtown does have some emergency sirens, and there certainly are some siren-like shapes on-site. I will try and gather more information on the site's siren(s?). However, I do think that there may be some other warning sirens off-site, but I am unsure.

Helpful booklet mentioning the siren:
https://cumbria.gov.uk/elibrary/Content ... 581193.PDF

As of now, all I know is that there is at least 1 siren (referred to as the 'Site Emergency Siren' in the booklet) on-site, and that it is tested every Wednesday at 9:30 AM.

This might be something:

This is definitely an electromechanical siren, confirmed from my recording. I will look for the surprise electronic siren later tonight.

I’m wondering if any MOD sites in wales have any sirens like MOD St Athan. Also there is a BAE Systems Munitions factory about 5 miles from me in Glascoed, Monmouthshire and wondering if they would have sirens too?

TIA

Everything in Grimsby is gone
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.

Are you sure there's an Electronic siren? because all I hear is a GP6/GP10 wind up fast at the beginning and some sort of dual tone siren start up second.

No, I’m not entirely sure, but I can only see one electromechanical siren-like shape on aerial view. The sound of the GP came from the forest area on the West of the site, and I cannot see any electromechanical sirens on aerial view so it may be in the forest somewhere. I mostly assumed electronic just because of the super-fast windup (and also I was pretty excited so I just said the first thought that popped into my head, heheh), but it probably was a Klaxon.

This map is a great idea, thanks for putting it together.

I have a list of ex siren locations, would this be of interest to you for the map?

I've noticed on the map you have a few locations where they have now been removed.

St Joseph's High School Horwich, Bolton -

53°35'9.26"N 2°31'40.59"W

It was a standard Cold War Era looking siren. Quite large. I'm not sure on the specific model but it looked like a carter. I was at school at the time and a friend pointed it out to me and said it was for World War 3.
A few weeks later the siren was removed around 1996, but the platform was left. This would have been for the cold war as the school was built in the 50's.

Atherton Fire Station, Gloucester Street, Atherton M46 0JT

53°31'36.28"N 2°29'40.00"W

I never saw this one, but i know a few people who remember seeing it on top of the training tower and hearing it being tested into the 1980's.

Holmcombe Brrok Primary School Longsight Rd, Ramsbottom, Bury BL0 9TA

Documented on this site, under cold war:

https://www.lancashireatwar.co.uk/

There is also a big list of siren locations on this website, you can still see the siren cabinets and poles on street view:

https://historymap.info/Air_Raid_Sirens

Apologies if this is of no interest, I'm trying to build a list of ex siren locations from the Cold War/WW2.

I noticed that the map was updated a couple of days ago, however two locations that I suggested a week ago have not been added. Here they are again:

Dual-tone electromechanical siren (unknown brand and model):
https://www.google.com/maps/place/54%C2 ... ?entry=ttu

There is a single-toned (potentially) Klaxon GP siren somewhere in this general area:

I'd like to say that 2903 in Swindon is actually a 2905, it shows 5 cells on StreetView.
